More thoughts about her name

We are still talking about how to spell Eihvlyn. We really like this spelling because it is more true to the Irish spelling I posted about earlier. Our question is how do look at this spelling and say it? Do you say Eh, as in Canadians say Eh? Or do you think EE like in sleep? We want her name to have the Eh sound. Also, I researched the other spelling, Avelyn and that is English, not Irish. So write back and tell us what you think.

  1. I think looking at it with no prior knowledge of how you would say it, I would think the EE vowel sound. Because of the Eih. That's my honest thought. But I understand if you want to be closer to the Irish spelling. Remember Kim, you do have English ansestry too... so it wouldn't be all that bad to give her an English spelling...
Spell it any way you like though. You two are unique and she'll be unique. So let it show in her name.
How's that for a mixed answer!?

  3. The more I see the Irish version the more I like it. People may mispronounce it at first...but they'll learn :)

  4. I think when it comes to people being able to pronounce a name, Avelyn would be the better choice. I also think it looks prettier than Eihvlyn, if that even makes sense. lol. I also agree with emiflute, you could combine the irish and english and have her name be avelyn. :)
